From the Author: Sunway Lagoon is such a childhood spot for me. I hadn’t been back here in years so it was nice to recount the fond memories of my time here as a kid – this time with my own kid!
If you’re planning a trip to Sunway Lagoon, you might notice the tickets can be a little pricey.
On the one hand, it’s an epic superpark that has a theme park, water park, wildlife park, and more all jam-packed into one convenient space. That being said, it can be a bit of a splurge for a whole day with the family here.
So here’s what I’m gonna do: I’ll share with you everything you need to know about a day out at Sunway Lagoon. If it fits the kind of family fun you’re looking for, you can use the promo code in this article to score some discounts.

Sunway Lagoon Review: Best Family-Friendly Attractions To Check Out
1. Sunway Lost Lagoon
Once we’d dropped off our things at the lockers, we headed straight for the Lost Lagoon and it was a fantastic start to the day!
The Captain’s Splash Adventure is this towering waterplay wonderland with all kinds of fun slides, splash buckets, and multi-level areas for kids to explore.
The slides are big enough for adults to go down too, if you need to accompany your younger kids (or, ya know, just for funsies hehe).
Right next to it is the quieter Splish Splash area for babies and toddlers, fit with fun water cannons and cooling sprinklers.
The Jungle Fury is a family-friendly ride on a large round floatie that zooms around a water slide.
For something extreme, the Monsoon 360 starts off as a vertical slide that opens up under your feet onto a superfast trail. I was too chicken but my brother tried it and went straight into fight-or-flight mode haha.
2. Water Park
The main Water Park is super family-friendly with loads of areas for little ones to explore.
We loved Lake Kariba! Kids can hop onto a paddleboat and cruise around the pool.
The crowd-favorite Little Zimbabwe area is pretty similar to the Captain’s Splash Adventure at Lost Lagoon but on a smaller scale.
For babies and young toddlers, head up to the Kalahari Kids section. The jungle-themed playground is less chaotic and loads of fun for younger ones.
For a fun show for the senses, catch a session at the Waterplexx 5D. Be prepared to get wet!
We can’t talk about the Water Park without talking about the infamous Vuvuzela. I didn’t imagine I’d survive this vortex water slide, so I sent my brother to try the ride. He reported, “It was probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. 10/10 would do it again.”
3. Wildlife Park
This mini-zoo is beautifully set up to let guests get up close to some of the animals.
As you walk in, you’ll see a cute collection of parrots ready to greet you!
Walk up the path and you’ll see snakes, otters, flamingos, hares, and more.
The Aviary section feels super dreamy. Push through the metal doors and you’ll be greeted with this little wonderland of different types of birds roaming around freely. We walked alongside ducks and peacocks.
The White Lions were breathtaking! Sure, they were enjoying an afternoon nap but we couldn’t help but marvel at how majestic they look. Also, I kinda didn’t realize lions were THAT huge?!
4. Amusement Park
The Amusement Park is where you’ll find the more traditional theme park rides.
The Wagon Wheel is Sunway Lagoon’s version of a Ferris wheel, and it’s a wonderful way to see the park from up high!
Other kid-friendly classics like the Carousel ride and spinning Apache Pots are in the same area.
The insane Tomahawk ride is perfect if you need an adrenaline rush. It’s a 360-degree pendulum ride that’s a lot scarier than it sounds >.<. I got talked (coerced?) into riding this in my teens, and that was the first and very last time.
5. Extreme Park
If you’re traveling with older kids or teens, the Extreme Park is a fun pit stop! You can try cool stuff like Flying Fox, Archery, and Paintball Target Shooting.
The following are pay-per-ride activities that you can choose to add on if you’re into them:
- Bungy Jump
- G-Force X (slingshot ride)
- Go Kart
6. Scream Park
If you love horror and jumpscares, check out the haunted house productions at Scream Park.
As you might guess, this park is not suitable for younger kids.
Pros and Cons of Visiting Sunway Lagoon
What I Like:
- Variety of Attractions: There’s really something for everyone here, whether your kids are into water slides, thrill rides, or animals. You can easily spend a whole day exploring all the different zones.
- Updated Food Options: I remember the last time I came here in my teens the food options were generic and not very appetizing. I’m quite impressed to see how they’ve revamped their F&B! Now they have mee tarik, Japanese bentos, pizzas, biryanis, and even a few Farm Fresh stalls for my daughter to get her Kurma Milk fix. 😀
- Family-Friendly Amenities: The park makes it so comfortable and convenient for families. There are nursing rooms, prayer rooms, and plenty of restrooms. Stroller and wheelchair rentals are available too.
- Chill Weekday Crowd: We went on a Monday morning and although there were still a considerable amount of people, there was barely any waiting time for rides (except for a 15-minute queue for the Vuvuzela).
Things To Consider:
- Location: Sunway is known for terrible traffic. Plan to leave your place a little earlier if you want to arrive right when they open at 10 a.m. If you’re coming from KL city center, it can take anywhere around 30 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
- Height Requirements: Most kid-friendly rides have a minimum height requirement of 1.1m. My 90+cm daughter is at that awkward gap where she’s charged for admission but can’t go on most of the rides. 🙁
So, Are Sunway Lagoon Tickets Worth It?
Yes, I think Sunway Lagoon tickets are really worth their value especially if you’re a family with older kids or teens. You’ll have a hugeeee variety of attractions available to you, and for that, I find the admission fees are super reasonable.
I’m just going to do a quick calculation to compare.
For example, let’s take a Malaysian family of 4:
- Mum
- Dad
- 15-year-old teen
- 8-year-old child
Sunway Lagoon admission total (based on current KKday rates): RM595
If the same family were to go for a combination of similar attractions (calculated for 2 adults, 1 teen, and 1 child based on current KKday rates):
- SplashMania WaterPark: RM376
- SuperPark Malaysia: RM240
- Zoo Negara: RM126
- Hauntu Haunted Experience: RM183 (for 2 adults + 1 teen)
That’s a total of RM925!
I like that at Sunway Lagoon you’ll get access to all the different parks in one convenient place. It’s also a great pick if you’re planning to go in a larger group – you can rest assured that everyone will have something fun to do!
On the flip side, you might not find the Sunway Lagoon tickets to be worth it if:
- You’re going with very young kids who don’t meet the 1.1m height requirement.
- You’re not planning to get wet. The water parks are the main attractions 😀
- You prefer smaller attractions / short half-day activities.
Mama’s Tips For A Fun Day At Sunway Lagoon With The Fam
Planning your trip
- Go on a weekday if possible. There are fewer people, which means fewer queues for rides (and for the shower rooms at the end of the day).
- Bring waterproof phone pouches for everyone.
- All stores in the park use cashless payment.
At the park
- If you’re traveling with younger kids, I’d recommend doing the higher-energy stuff first like the 2 wet parks. Our itinerary: Lost Lagoon – Wet Park – Lunch & Rest – Wildlife Park – Amusement Park. Here’s the Sunway Lagoon map.
- We dressed up in swimwear straight from home. You can go to all parks (except Scream Park) in wet clothing so we only showered just before we left the park.
- There are cabanas you can rent for the day. The standard one comes with an air-cooler to keep everyone comfy, lounger chairs, and a locker. It’s a convenient way to get naptime in.
- You can take the train shuttle to go from one park to another. Take note of the departure times when planning how much time to spend in one park.
Return trips to the park
- If you’re considering multiple trips to Sunway Lagoon to properly explore each park, it’s worthwhile to get the Sunway Lagoon Annual Pass. It’s RM498 per year for the first sign-up, and RM288 per year to renew. The rates apply to Malaysians and International guests.

Sunway Lagoon Tickets: Final Thoughts
Personally, I’m very happy with our time at Sunway Lagoon!
The last time I was here was probably more than 15 years ago, and I have to say they’ve made the place even more fun than I remember!
My daughter and I especially enjoyed the Lost Lagoon – that Captain’s playground is loadsss of fun 😀 The Wildlife Park is wonderful too!
I’m always wary about theme park foods, but it’s so nice to see how they’re keeping up with current demands. There’s a great variety of cuisines to choose from, and the pricing is not too bad. There’s even a San Fran Coffee if you need an iced latte fix. 😉
