You’re in luck, KL is probably one of the most kid-friendly cities there is! And that means there are plenty of great hotels in the city that offer thoughtful kids’ facilities, from cozy playrooms to kids’ activities – some even have a full-on water park!

⭐Mama’s Shortlist: Best Family Hotels In Kuala Lumpur ⭐

That said, there’s one family-friendly hotel in KL that I personally wouldn’t recommend. It’s quite popular (it’s connected to an indoor theme park) but for now, it’s not on my list of places to stay. I’ll share my thoughts on it later in the article.

1. Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur City Centre

I love the EPIC kids’ facilities at Four Points – I’m talking about a legit water park, slides zooming into pools, and a huge playground!

I find the room rates super reasonable too considering all the fun kids can have during their stay here.

I also love that KLCC-view rooms are available! Waking up to the twin towers view is such a special experience for the whole fam 🙂

Kids’ Facilities:

• Playful pool area with a full water park, water slides, a wading pool, and floating cushions in the adult pool.
• Quieter pool for babies and toddlers.
• Treehouse-inspired outdoor playground with swings, slides, see-saws, and climbers.
• Kids’ playroom.
• Close to kid-friendly attractions like Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains. 

Recommended Room Type For Families:

• Two-Bedroom Family Suite: The second bedroom comes with a cute bunk bed and a small play area. The room has a bathtub 🙂

What I Like About Four Points:

• The water park slides can comfortably fit adults so you can accompany younger kids if needed.
• The Petronas Twin Towers are down the road – it’s about a 15-minute walk to get there.
• The Bukit Nanas Monorail Station is about a 5-minute walk away.

Things To Consider:

• It’s not connected to a mall. Make sure you’re stocked up on baby supplies and snacks.

Location:

• Corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail & Jalan Ampang
• 1.1km (0.6mi) to Suria KLCC Mall
• 280m (0.2mi) to Bukit Nanas Monorail Station

2. Renaissance Kuala Lumpur

Renaissance is right next door to Four Points and shares the same public-area facilities including the pool area and playground.

It has a bit more of a corporate vibe compared to Four Points but it’s still a wonderful place for families to stay. I’d go for this as an alternative if Four Points is all booked out for your travel dates.

Kids’ Facilities:

• Playful pool area with a full water park, water slides, a wading pool, and floating cushions in the adult pool.
• Quieter pool for babies and toddlers.
• Treehouse-inspired outdoor playground with swings, slides, see-saws, and climbers.
• Kids’ playroom.
• Close to kid-friendly attractions like Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains. 

Recommended Room Type For Families:

• Family Suite – the kids’ bedroom designs are beautiful! It’s almost like a mini indoor playground with comfy twin beds. The room has a bathtub.

 Location:

• Corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail & Jalan Ampang
• 1.1km (0.6mi) to Suria KLCC Mall
• 280m (0.2mi) to Bukit Nanas Monorail Station

3. Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

Shangri-La KL is our go-to staycation spot – the service is always warm, and in the past few years, they’ve really made the hotel so welcoming for little kids!

Kids’ Facilities:

• Daily kids’ activities – arts and crafts, yoga, treasure hunt, hotel tours, and more.
• Koi pond where kids can feed the fish.
• Beautiful outdoor garden maze.
• Ocassionally, there’s a pop-up playroom filled with the best Montessori-style toys, Pikler-style climbers, and books.
• Extensive in-room kids’ menu, including baby purees and actually fun meals for kids.
• Swimming pool.

Recommended Room Type For Families:

• Family King Executive or Family Premier King Suite – they put up a cheeky no-parents-allowed tent. It’s too cute! The room has a bathtub.

 What I Like About Shangri-La:

• Shang is known for their hospitality and it’s something I’ve especially appreciated when traveling with little ones.
• The in-room menu is one of the most interesting ones I’ve seen for kids!

Things To Consider:

• It’s a bit further from the KLCC area (about a 20ish-minute walk) but there’s a daily shuttle to the area.
• It’s not connected to a mall. Make sure you’re stocked up on baby supplies and snacks.

Location:

• Jalan Sultan Ismail
• 1.6km (1mi) to Suria KLCC Mall
• 500m (0.3mi) to Bukit Nanas Monorail Station

4. St. Regis KL

St. Regis KL is the perfect pick if you’re looking for a refined stay with thoughtful touches that cater to little ones.

Their signature butler service is especially helpful when you’re traveling with kids! They can help with packing or unpacking, serving drinks, pressing clothes, and more.

Kids’ Facilities:

• St. Regis Kids Club – fun playroom with butler-led kids’ activities.
• Cute afternoon tea set that’s a lot of fun for kids (we loved their festive set!).
• Swimming pool.
• They offer kid-friendly stay packages from time to time like the Butler Bear Staycation.

What I Like About St. Regis:

• It’s a more elevated, curated experience.
• The rooms are super spacious – they have some of the largest rooms in the city.
• It’s close to popular attractions like the Perdana Botanical Gardens and Islamic Arts Museum.

Things To Consider:

• It’s one of the pricier hotels on this list.
• It’s pretty far from the KLCC area. It’s located in the same area as the KL Sentral transportation hub.
• Not connected to a mall, so plan ahead for snacks and supplies.

Location:

• Jalan Stesen Sentral 2
• 4.4km (2.7mi) to KLCC
• 270m (0.2mi) to Muzium Negara MRT Station

5. M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur

M Resort & Hotel is a hidden gem of a family hotel in KL!

The hotel’s playroom is one of the best in KL and they host daily kids’ activities too – take your pick from arts and crafts, coloring sessions, and movie screenings.

The hotel is located further away from KL city center, but that can be a great thing if you want to explore local-favorite spots in suburban PJ like the super popular Red Beanbag play cafe and fun indoor playgrounds like Starship Galactica.

The National Science Museum is nearby too!

Kids’ Facilities:

• Extensive kids’ playroom with a slide, ball pit, and a wall-climbing panel. 
• Daily kids’ activities.
• Kids’ pool with a slide. 

What I Like About M Resort & Hotel:

• It’s budget-friendly. Despite the range of kids’ facilities provided, it’s one of the most affordable hotels on this list.
• It’s smack in between KL & PJ, so it’s close enough to KL’s top attractions but also not too far from suburban family hangouts loved by local parents. You get a great balance 🙂 

Things To Consider:

• It might not be the best option if you’re specifically planning to explore KL city center. 
• Not connected to a mall.

Location:

• Jalan Damansara
• 14km (8.7mi) to KLCC
• 1km (0.6mi) to Phileo Damansara MRT Station

6. Mandarin Oriental

If you’re looking for a luxe family hotel near KLCC, it’s gotta be Mandarin Oriental!

It’s right opposite KLCC Park, and the greeneries give this place a relaxing resort-like vibe.

They have their very own Little Explorers Club on the hotel’s third floor. If you need more kids’ activities, KLCC is right next door!

Kids’ Facilities:

• Kids’ playroom with toys, doodling areas, wall climbing, and more.
• Daily kids’ activities.
• There’s a kids’ pool. The main pool is beautiful and overlooks the lush KLCC Park.

 What I Like About Mandarin Oriental:

• The location is excellent! You can easily walk to popular kids’ attractions like Petrosains and Aquaria.
• Mandarin Oriental has one of the best Chinese restaurants in KL. Head to Lai Po Heen for dim sum.

Things To Consider:

• It’s one of the pricier hotels on this list.

Location:

• Kuala Lumpur City Centre
• 200m (0.1mi) to Suria KLCC Mall
• 700m (0.4mi) to KLCC LRT Station

7. Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral

We were visiting friends at Aloft KL Sentral and found out it actually has some pretty fun family-friendly facilities on offer!

It’s a convenient spot if you need easy access to trains and the airport. The KL Sentral transportation hub is connected to the hotel and is a short 5-minute walk away.

Kids’ Facilities:

• Camp Aloft: It’s this cute housekeeping service where they set up a play tent and a kiddy mattress in the room – put in a request for this when you’re booking.
• Kid-friendly events from time to time, like this adorable Eid-themed one!
• Swimming pool.

 What I Like About Aloft KL:

• Connected to KL Sentral and makes it easy to take public transport or to head to the airport.
• Connected to Nu Sentral Mall.
• Budget-friendly.
• Modern rooms with fresh, funky designs.
• Close to popular attractions like the Perdana Botanical Gardens and Islamic Arts Museum.

Things To Consider:

• It’s further away from the main KLCC area.

Location:

• Jalan Stesen Sentral
• 5.2km (3.2mi) to KLCC
• 200m (0.1mi) to KL Sentral LRT Station

8. PARKROYAL Collection Kuala Lumpur

I love how PARKROYAL’s rooms are a wonderful combo of style and comfort. The family suites are beautiful!

The suites come with a kids’ room complete with bunk beds, a TV, and a mini play corner. There are 4 themes to choose from: Candyland, jungle, trains, and a cute sky-inspired one.

The hotel is located in the bustling Bukit Bintang area, surrounded by rows of malls, restaurants, convenience stores, and more.

Kids’ Facilities:

• Beautiful Family Suites!
• Swimming pool.

 What I Like About PARKROYAL:

• Spacious and stylish rooms.
• It’s a short walk to surrounding malls.
• It’s close to the Waka Waka KL indoor playground.

Things To Consider:

• While the themed rooms and pool are fantastic, there aren’t many play facilities for kids within the hotel.
• It’s a little further away from the main KLCC area.

Location:

• Bukit Bintang
• 2.2km (1.4mi) to KLCC
• 300m (0.2mi) to Bukit Bintang MRT Station

9. Sunway Resort Hotel

If you’re looking for ultra-fun Kuala Lumpur resorts for families, Sunway Resort Hotel is the way to go!

It has easy access to Sunway Lagoon Theme Park and is surrounded by plenty of fun things to do for families including indoor playgrounds, an ice skating rink, a cinema, and more!

Kids’ Facilities:

• A huge water play area with slides, sprinklers, and splash buckets!
• Outdoor playground.
• The main swimming pool has a fun waterfall feature.
• Kids’ playroom with a slide, ball pit, books, and games. 
• Plenty of kids’ activities to join from arts and crafts to cooking classes.

Recommended Room Type:

• Waterventure Terrace – the room has 2 double beds and direct access to the Waterventure water play area.

What I Like About Sunway Resort Hotel:

• Easy access to Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. It’s a super fun place for the whole family, with 6 different parks to explore including the water park, an amusement park, a wildlife park, an extreme park, and more.
• Connected to Sunway Pyramid shopping mall, which has even more options for kids’ activities. I like The Parenthood playground!

Things To Consider:

• It’s far from KL city center. The Sunway area gets pretty congested and it usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes to get to KL.

Location:

• Bandar Sunway
• 25km (15.5mi) to KLCC
• 300m (0.2mi) to Sunway Lagoon BRT Station

10. M World Hotel (Formerly AVANTÉ HoteL)

M World Hotel is another great spot if you’re looking for a place with plenty of entertainment options.

The hotel has a really fun Kiddies’ Club playroom, and it’s connected to the gigantic 1 Utama Shopping Mall!

It’s in a suburban area and is close to the Taman Tun Dr Ismail neighborhood, known for some of the best cafes and restaurants in KL!

Kids’ Facilities:

• Kids’ playroom with a huge ball pit, a slide, toys, and books.
• Saltwater infinity pool.
• Connected to 1 Utama with loads of options for family entertainment including indoor playgrounds, go-karting, surfing, treetop adventures, arcade games, and more.

What I Like About M World Hotel:

• It’s budget-friendly!
• Great location if you want to hang out where the locals do. There are plenty of kid-friendly eateries in the area including Open Playhouse and Meatpoint.

Things To Consider:

• It’s far from KL city center.

Location:

• Bandar Utama
• 18km (11mi) to KLCC
• 50m (<0.1mi) to Bandar Utama MRT Station

11. Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIA 

Movenpick Hotel is an excellent choice for families if you’re in KL for a quick stopover. It’s a quick 15-minute drive to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

This modern Muslim-friendly hotel has unique architectural features – perfect for getting some memorable family photos!

Kids’ Facilities:

• Kids’ playroom and activities.
• Outdoor playground.
• The pool has an interesting design – it’s huge with palm tree islands in the center.

What I Like About Movenpick Hotel:

• It’s a 15-minute drive from the airport, perfect for layovers or early morning flights.
• Two-way airport shuttles are available.
• The Mitsui Park shopping gallery is nearby – about a 10-minute drive.

Things To Consider:

• It’s about an hour away from KL city center.
• Not connected to a mall.

Location:

• Sepang
• 55km (34mi) to KLCC
• 8km (5mi) to KLIA

• Outdoor playground
• Spacious multi-room apartments
• Aquaria is down the road – about a 5-minute walk
• It’s a 10-minute walk to more kids’ attractions in KLCC
• 10-minute walk to KLCC LRT Station

More Family-Friendly Hotels In PJ/Selangor:

15. Sunway Pyramid Hotel

• No swimming pool but you can walk over to Sunway Resort Hotel to use their facilities 🙂
• Access to Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon Theme Park
• Family Room (sleeps 4) comes with a double bed and bunk beds
• Family Suite (sleeps 6) comes with 3 double beds
• 5-minute walk to the Sunway Lagoon BRT Station. This bus line connects to the LRT.

16. Somerset Damansara Uptown

• Fun kids’ playroom!
• More kids’ attractions at the next-door Starling Mall: Jungle Gym, BookXcess and Popular bookstores, and an outdoor lawn.
• In PJ area, not too far from M World Hotel.
• Closest MRT station is TTDI – about a 10-minute drive.

17. DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside

• Wonderful kids’ playroom with a range of toys and books.
• Mini waterpark! 😀 
• Lots of beautiful parks nearby like the Putrajaya Botanical Gardens and Anjung Floria.
• Closest MRT station is Putrajaya – about a 15-minute drive.
• Not connected to a mall. IOI City Mall Putrajaya is a 15-minute drive away.

18. Le Méridien Putrajaya

• Comfy, spacious rooms!
• Fun kids’ playroom.
• Kids’ pool.
• More kids’ attractions at the next-door IOI City Mall including the District 21 super-playground and ice-skating.
• Closest MRT station is UPM – about a 15-minute drive.

Family Hotels In Kuala Lumpur I DON’T Recommend

Berjaya Times Square Hotel

There’s an outdoor playground and a kids’ pool, and it’s connected to the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park. But I’m not too keen on this place as the rooms are old and dated. That being said, it’s budget-friendly for its central location and connectivity.
