You’re in luck – it’s one of the most family-friendly areas in KL!

Within a short walking distance, you’ll find a great mix of indoor attractions, outdoor play spaces, restaurants, and family facilities. It’s one of the easiest places in KL to spend an entire day with kids.

And here’s something I especially love: despite being a major tourist hotspot, not everything here is expensive.

Some of the best family activities around KLCC are completely free!

Where Is KLCC Exactly?

When people say “KLCC”, they’re usually referring to any of these three main buildings:

➡️ Petronas Twin Towers

➡️ Suria KLCC Mall

➡️ Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

Thankfully, they’re all connected and within easy walking distance, so navigating the area is pretty straightforward.

You probably already know the Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia’s most iconic landmark.

While the towers are primarily office buildings, visitors can go up to the Skybridge and Observation Deck for stunning views of the city.

Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC, some of the most popular attractions in KLCC for kids.

Suria KLCC is one of the most family-friendly malls in KL. This is where you’ll find some unique attractions for kids, along with restaurants, baby shops, and family facilities.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is an events venue. On the lower ground level, you’ll find Aquaria KLCC, a fun family-friendly hotspot (especially popular pick when it’s scorching outdoors!).

KL Convention Centre, home to the popular Aquaria KLCC for kids.

In this guide, we’ll cover activities across all three locations (plus a few spots in the surrounding areas) so you can easily plan a full day around KLCC with your family.

Best Kid-Friendly Activities in KLCC

1. Petronas Twin Towers Skybridge & Observation Deck

If it’s your first time visiting Kuala Lumpur, this is a must-do.

(To be fair, even if you’re local like me, this is still such a fun experience with the kiddos! 😍)

It’s such a cool experience stepping onto the Skybridge connecting the two towers. The observation deck offers an incredible view of the city skyline.

There’s also a little educational section where kids can pick up some pretty cool facts about the towers.

📍 Petronas Twin Towers

⏰ First slot: 9 a.m. | Last slot: 6 p.m. | Open daily

2. Petrosains Discovery Centre

Petrosains is easily one of the best indoor attractions for kids in KL.

This science discovery center is packed with interactive exhibits, so kids aren’t just looking at displays – they’re pressing buttons, building things, and experimenting.

Some highlights include:

  • The Energy Capsule dark ride at the entrance
  • Interactive science stations
  • Dinosaur exhibits
  • Robotics and space sections
  • A toddler-friendly soft play area

My daughter especially loves the giant cooperative game before the oil rig exhibit, where kids work together to transport seeds through a mechanical system.

It’s chaotic in the best way 😂

📍 Level 4, Suria KLCC

⏰ 9.30 a.m. – 5.30 p.m. (Mon – Fri; last admission at 4 p.m.)

⏰ 9.30 a.m. – 7.30 p.m. (Sat, Sun & public holidays; last admission at 6 p.m.)

⏰ Closed during Eid celebrations, and every first and third Monday of the month

3. Aquaria KLCC

I love the chill, calming vibes of this aquarium!

(HUGE caveat: As long as you’re here at non-peak times. Calming vibes don’t apply during crowded weekends and school holidays 🥵).

The crowd-favorite highlight is the 90-meter underwater tunnel where you can stand on a travelator while sharks, stingrays, and turtles glide overhead.

Kids also love the feeding sessions throughout the day for all kinds of sea life creatures, from sharks to jellyfish to seahorses.

📍 Lower Ground Floor, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

⏰ 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Mondays – Fridays)

⏰ 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. (Saturdays & Sundays)

🐟 I have a complete family-friendly guide on Aquaria KLCC if you need more info.

4. KLCC Park

Update: Currently undergoing renovations until March 2027. Some parts of the park, like the playground, are closed for now.

Right outside the mall and convention centre is KLCC Park, a beautiful 50-acre urban park.

And best of all – it’s completely free!

The playground is HUGE, with slides, swings, see-saws, and even a toddler-friendly section.

There’s a large wading pool* here – perfect for cooling off after a hot day exploring the city.

@mamasguidetomalaysia

This is why I always bring my kid’s wetsuit if we’re going to KLCC 😆 From Suria KLCC, head outdoors and walk towards the overhead bridge. Once you see the dolphin sculptures, you’re super near to the wading pool! There’s a basic toilet and changing area opposite the playground. If your kids still have energy left, you can walk the looping path around the park and spot over 70 species of local trees.

(When I was a kid, I never understood why my dad got so excited about spotting trees from his childhood. Now that I’m in my 30s… man, I GET IT.)

If you’re visiting in the evening, stay for the Lake Symphony light and fountain show.

Lights-only show: 7.30 p.m. | 8.30 p.m. | 9.30 p.m.

Full show: 8 p.m. | 9 p.m. | 10 p.m.

*Note: Shower rooms are available in the washrooms next to the wading pool.

 ✈️Travel Tip for Visiting Parents:

If you’re visiting KL with little ones, make sure you’ve got your travel medical insurance sorted.

I like SafetyWing’s Nomad Essential plan – it’s affordable and can be purchased even after your trip has started. Kids under 10 are insured for free when added to your plan (1 child per adult policyholder).

If you’re planning to stay in Malaysia long-term, check out SafetyWing’s Nomad Complete plan – it includes maternity care and mental wellness coverage too!

5. Kinokuniya Children’s Section

If you and your little ones are into bookstore strolls, head right on to Kinokuniya in Suria KLCC.

The selection is FANTASTIC. If there’s a children’s book you’ve been trying to find, chances are Kinokuniya will have it*.

Even if you don’t buy anything, just browsing their wonderful collection makes for a slow, simple, and enjoyable activity with kids in KLCC.

*If you’re in Malaysia and looking for super-niche international titles, Kinokuniya can usually order them for you.

We use the Well-Trained Mind curriculum at home and have found Kinokuniya to be the only place so far where you can order these learning materials locally.

📍 Level 4, Suria KLCC

⏰ 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily

6. Kids Yoga at Hot Yo Studio

If you’re looking for some active fun, check out the kids’ yoga class at Hot Yo Studio!

The kid-friendly session offers a wonderful play-based approach to yoga 💖

Based on the giggles and squeals of delight coming out from the studio every time, I’m going to assume these classes are an absolute blast for the kids 😆.

I especially appreciate the flexibility of these drop-in classes. You can join the classes on any Saturday you’re free – no package sign-up necessary.

📍 Level 1, Decathlon KLCC, Shoppes at Four Seasons Place

⏰ 11.15 a.m. – 12.15 p.m. (Saturdays)

7. Ilham Gallery

For an artsy spot to spend a couple of hours, Ilham Gallery is a fresh, contemporary art space that welcomes visitors of all ages.

Occasionally, there are kid-friendly art appreciation tours that take them through the exhibits, followed by artwork discussions and a crafty session.

Even if you’re just dropping by for a short visit, the gift shop is worth a pit-stop – it has a fantastic selection of children’s books and art by Malaysian authors and illustrators.

📍Ilham Tower

⏰ 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. (Tuesdays – Saturdays)

⏰ 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sundays)

⏰ Closed on Mondays and public holidays

Where To Eat In KLCC For Families

These are some of our favorite family-friendly restaurants in the KLCC area:

8. Pokok KLCC Lot 91

This spacious cafe is one of the most family-friendly restaurants near KLCC.

There’s a small play area for kids, plenty of space for strollers, and the setting feels more relaxed than most mall restaurants.

The menu features cafe favorites like:

  • Burgers
  • Roasts
  • Pasta dishes
  • Pastries
  • Some fun dishes like salmon spring rolls and all-you-can-scoop tiramisu

It’s located next to the convention centre, about a 5-minute walk from Aquaria KLCC.

📍Concourse Level, Permata Sapura Tower

⏰ 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Mondays – Fridays)

⏰ 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Saturdays & Sundays)

9. Serai

The kids’ menu includes simple favourites done right, from fried rice with chicken satay to sliders and pasta.

KLCC kids' menu at Serai.

My daughter loves the Creamy Chicken Mushroom Spaghetti (and tbh, I do too! It’s really quite flavorful).

For parents, I’ll always recommend the signature Nasi Kerabu – fragrant, blue pea flower rice served with spiced coconutty chicken, fish crackers, salted egg, and fresh herbs. SO GOOD.

📍Level 2, Suria KLCC

⏰ 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily

10. Madam Kwan

If you’re looking for Malaysian comfort food, Madam Kwan offers a decent selection of local kid-friendly meal sets.

The chicken rice is our go-to – it’s comforting and flavorful, served with juicy steamed chicken.
