If you’re looking for a family-friendly hotel in Kuala Lumpur that’s a little removed from the usual KLCC crowd, Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown is worth considering.
We recently stayed here for a little family staycation, and I genuinely enjoyed the thoughtful touches for families!
Family-Friendly Highlights
✅ Spacious rooms (multi-room apartments available too)
✅ Wonderful kids’ club with playground and activities
✅ Simple but enjoyable pool (kids’ floaties provided!)
✅ Excellent breakfast buffet spread, with plenty of kid-friendly eats
✅ Warm and helpful service
✅ Reasonable rates: our room was about RM500+ a night (with breakfast)
✅ Mont Kiara is a family-friendly area, with plenty of activities and amenities around
Things to Consider
➡️ It’s not in central KL (about a 15-min drive to KLCC area)
➡️ The surrounding area is currently under construction (affects the room view + unsafe to walk to nearby buildings)
➡️ The in-room dining menu isn’t too exciting
All things considered, I’d say this turned out to be a solid option for a KL staycation with kids! I’ll go through each highlight in more detail, so you can see if this kid-friendly hotel may be a good fit for your family.

Hyatt Regency At KL Midtown’s Super Fun Kids’ Club!
Not surprisingly, my daughter (and by default, I) spent the most time here during our stay 😆
The space is beautifully sunlit and feels welcoming! There’s a fun treehouse-style playground, plus a genuinely impressive collection of activities – Lego, puzzles, board games, books, card games, and all kinds of toys.
The club is open for children aged 4 to 9. There’s a facilitator present, but do note that parents are expected to stay while the kids play.
A kids’ washroom and water dispenser are provided in the club.
Our Room: King Room With View
I love how spacious our room was!
The king bed was huge and oh-so- comfy, and the layout worked well for a family stay.
The room comes with a separate cozy sitting/work area, which was handy for in-room meals and activities (and squeezing some work in!).
I LOVE the bathroom layout as well, with 3 separate sections for vanity, toilet, and shower.
As for the view… well, it’s a bit of a mixed bag right now. You’ll see surrounding construction and MITEC, but at the same time you still get a lovely KL skyline view with Merdeka 118, KLCC, and KL Tower from a distance.
Navigation Tip: The Hotel Also Has A Residences Block
When you come in through the Hyatt Regency KL Midtown main entrance, you’ll be in the main hotel block.
Just a few steps further up from the lobby, you’ll arrive at the Residences block.
The kids’ club is located in the Residences block. If you’re staying on the hotel side, you’ll need to walk over and tap your room keycard to get to the club on Level 32.
There’s also a rooftop pool on the Residences side (but we preferred the one on the hotel side).
The rooms in the Residences block are even more family-friendly – they’re apartment-style and include a kitchenette and dining area.
If you’re keen on this type of room, look for the Residence room type when you’re on the booking page.
Swimming Pool: Simple But Good Fun For Families
The pool itself isn’t super fancy, but it’s a fun one for families with little ones.
I love that they actually provide floaties! There was a nice range: chest floats, kickboards, and pool noodles (I appreciate not having to lug our own gear for sure! 😂)
There’s also a jacuzzi area, and the skyline views from here are lovely! You can spot Merdeka 118 from the pool deck.
The Breakfast Buffet Is 100% Worth Waking Up For
The breakfast buffet is superb – great variety, incredible flavors, and excellent coffee!
In true Asian auntie style, I zoomed straight to the Chinese section first.
There was warm congee, dim sum, braised duck, fresh you tiao, and Beijing pancakes – loved them all!
The mamak counter is a hit, offering fresh roti canai and thosai made on the spot!
There’s also the usual Western breakfast spread, a bustling egg station (they’ll send your eggs directly to your table, which is a nice touch), plus pastries, waffles, pancakes, cold cuts, salads, and local kuih.
The condiments were lots of fun too – honey straight from the honeycomb, freshly pressed peanut butter, and a whole line-up of Sabasco sauces!
In-Room Dining: A Little Underwhelming
This area felt a bit meh.
We tried a few things from the kids’ menu. Taste-wise, the food was good – especially the Chicken Bites (RM25), which came with fried coconut chicken, fried broccoli, and a really tasty yoghurt dip.
But portion sizes and presentation felt a little underwhelming for the price.
The Rice with Black Bean (RM25) turned out to be fried rice, which was fine, just not what I expected.
The Kids Burger (RM25) came as two little sliders with beef patty, cheese, and tomato sauce. Tasty enough, but it looked a little bare. Some sides would have been nice.
Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Room Rates
Rooms at Hyatt Regency KL Midtown start from RM450+ per night.
For our stay, we paid RM560 for 1 night in the King Room with View, which included breakfast, taxes, and free cancellation.

Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Vs Other Family Hotels In KL
Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Vs Four Points KLCC
They have a similar price range. Four Points KLCC is located in central KL, and has even more extensive kids’ facilities: a waterpark, playground, kids’ club, and family rooms.
Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Vs M Resort & Hotel
M Resort is generally cheaper – it’s one of the most budget-friendly family stays in KL. Both hotels are located further away from KL city center. M Resort has a kids’ club, a pool with a slide, and an excellent breakfast buffet too!
Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Vs Sunway Resort Hotel
Hyatt Regency KL Midtown is mostly cheaper. However, Sunway Resort Hotel has extensive kid-friendly facilities – a waterpark, kids’ club, and family rooms. It also has easy access to the super popular Sunway Lagoon Theme Park.
Final Thoughts: Is Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Good For Families?
For us, it was a huge yes!
What we loved about Hyatt Regency at KL Midtown:
✅ Quieter location away from the city
✅ Spacious room with KL skyline view
✅ Engaging kids’ club
✅ Fun pool for families
However, it might not be for you if:
➡️ You’re specifically looking to be in KL city center
➡️ You want more extensive family facilities (waterparks, big playgrounds etc)
➡️ You’re looking for a budget-friendly stay
It may not be the first hotel that pops up when you search for family hotels in Kuala Lumpur, but after staying here, I’m happily adding it to our go-to list!
